Best foot forward for new year Nordic walkers
New Nordic walking sessions started on Thursday 8th January 2015 at Castle Hill, with more dates planned throughout the year.
The sessions will begin at 10.30am and will last about 90 minutes in some beautiful countryside. Trained Nordic walkers will be on hand to help.
There’s no need to worry about the pace as no-one gets left behind in this full body exercise that is easy to learn and is kind on the joints. It’s suitable for all ages and fitness levels.
The specially designed walking poles are used in a way that harnesses the power of the upper body in order to propel you forward as you walk. When properly used, the poles take the weight off the knees and lower body joints – this makes you feel lighter on your feet.
All you will need is good footwear, warm clothing and waterproofs. There will be some slopes, rough terrain and a number of step-over stiles on all the walks.
