South Huddersfield school plans

School Girl - south Huddersfield school place consultationWe will be holding a consultation after Easter on our plans for South Huddersfield schools

They include:

Creating a brand new, 630-place primary school in Huddersfield

The new-build school would be in the grounds of Moor End Academy and would help us meet the need for South Huddersfield School places whilst also achieving the highest possible standards of care and education.

The new school would be a separate school to Moor End Academy, which would continue as a secondary, but the two would work closely in partnership to benefit children and families.

Bringing together 3 South Huddersfield schools

Thornton Lodge Nursery School, Dryclough CE (C) Infant School and Crosland Moor Junior School as one primary school. The schools already share one site and benefit from close links. To build on this strength, we are proposing to bring them together as one primary school for children aged 2 to 11, using their existing buildings.

Retaining places at Mount Pleasant Primary

We are proposing that another South Huddersfield school, Mount Pleasant Primary, should keep its current number of 630 places. Mount Pleasant is a close partner of other schools in the area and was expanded in 2010 as the demand for local places was already growing.
