Alternative Market – Embrace the different
The Alternative Market returns
Following the success of the first Alternative Market in November 2014, we’re now counting down to the second one, the Easter market, this Saturday the 4 April.
The market is taking place in St Peter’s Gardens and on Byram Street and will be open from 11am to 5pm.
What’s on offer?
Our Fifty young stallholders will be selling a range of goodies including: handmade fashions, photography, arts and crafts, jewellery, home baking, flavoured vodkas, hampers, gifts and toys.
To make the shopping experience even better there will be an Alternative Market stage. The stage will feature a line-up of local young talent. 6 artists will perform live from midday until 5pm. The stage is Supported by Live in the Hudd.
If you feel a bit peckish then you can choose something tasty from American Road Hog diner, which is in a converted 1970’s school bus. There are equally yummy treats on offer from the Kerico South American food stand. There will also be hot fresh coffee from Café Maison.
For younger visitors there will be a free Easter egg hunt running throughout the day. There will also be free drop-in workshops for children to paint their own wooden egg cups and have a go at origami.
The latest information is available on the Alternative Market’s Facebook page
The Alternative Market was a set up so that young entrepreneurs aged 13 to 29 could showcase the their talent, and so that the people of Kirklees could take advantage of an enhanced the shopping experience in the town centre.
