Dementia Awareness Week
We will be supporting the Alzheimer’s Society’s annual ‘Dementia Awareness Week’ from 17th to 23rd May 2015.
We are holding some events for anyone who has Dementia or knows someone that is suffering from the condition.

Become a Dementia Friend
Dementia Friends want more people to understand the condition. It makes such a huge difference to people with dementia if those around them know what dementia is and how it might affect them.
If you’d like to support Dementia Friends – pop down to Queesngate Market on Monday 8th May 2015, 11am to 12 noon at Queensgate Market in Huddersfield or visit their Dementia Friends website
Cllr Viv Kendrick, Kirklees Council Cabinet Member for Health, Wellbeing and Communities said: “This year it is predicted that there will be 850,000 people with dementia in the UK, with numbers set to rise to 1 million in ten years’ time. By celebrating Dementia Awareness Week we aim to give people more information and therefore more control over the condition and this will go some way towards limiting its effects.”
