Chapterhouse Theatre Company starts its ‘summer season’ at Kirklees museums by presenting one of the greatest romances of English literature – Jane Eyre, at Red House Museum, Gomersal, on Thursday 11th June 2015.
The company’s adaptation of Charlotte Bronte’s novel ‘Jane Eyre’ is the first of four different open air performances by the popular company which has been a regular visitor to Oakwell Hall, and more recently Red House, for several years.
This story of undying love begins when young governess Jane Eyre arrives at the mysterious Thornfield Hall deep in the Yorkshire moors and meets enigmatic Mr Rochester. When a secret from the past returns to haunt them, can Jane and Rochester’s passion survive the forces that might tear them apart forever?
The performance starts at 7.30pm in the gardens of the house on Oxford Road. The gardens will be open from 6pm for viewing and picnics (patrons are requested not to bring tables).
Chapterhouse Theatre will be performing on three other occasions this summer.
On Thursday 9th July 2015, they will be performing The Casebook of Sherlock Holmes’ at Oakwell Hall. On Tuesday 4th August 2015 audiences can enjoy a performance of ‘The Secret Garden’ at Red House Museum. On Thursday 13 August, families can enjoy a performance of ‘The Jungle Book’ at Oakwell Hall.
