Look after you and life will love you too! – Young Men’s Health Event
Aged 13-24? Why not come down to our exciting health event on Friday 19 June 2015, from 6pm to 9pm at Leeds Road Sports Complex, to celebrate Men’s Health Awareness Week 2015.
Both sexes are welcome and there will be lots of free activities to try including a five–a- side football tournament, canoeing, skateboarding, music and access to the outside gym.
The event at the Leeds Road Sports Complex is being organised by young people from Kirklees integrated Youth Support Service. They want to help other young people to reduce the risk of developing health problems and preventable diseases by leading a healthy lifestyle.
There will also be information on health issues including smoking, emotional health and well-being, stressbusting, positive relationships and sexual health, alcohol, substance misuse, and cancer awareness.
The Samaritans, Kirklees Locala, The Base, Brunswick Centre, and Smokefree Yorkshire will all be on hand to offer advice aimed at helping young people become healthier.
Cllr Erin Hill Cabinet Member for Family Support and Child Protection said:
“This event provides young people with the opportunity to find out about making healthier lifestyle choices while having a good time. By making good decisions now, young people are more likely to be happy, healthy and more active in the future. Young people face many challenges in today’s world, and we need to make sure they are well-equipped and well informed to deal with them.
“I would also like to thank the young people involved in setting up this event for their hard work. It’s great to see people being so proactive to help others.”
This is sure to be a fun and informative evening, what’s more who doesn’t like freebies and give a-ways!
