Garden party at Red House Museum

Red House

Red HouseThere can’t be many better ways to enjoy the English Summer than in an award-winning garden at a traditional afternoon garden party.

Join the Red House museum’s Friends group and Gomersal Moravian Church at their Garden Party On Saturday 11th July 2015.

The party’s in the beautifully recreated 1830s garden – which holds a Yorkshire in Bloom Gold Award.

The event is taking place almost 100 years to the day since the Moravian Church held a garden party at Red House, and they will be trying to bring some of that vintage charm back to 2015.

The Garden Party will be opened at 12 noon by Councillor Lisa Holmes, local Kirklees ward member and Friend of Red House. From then until 4pm it will be good old-fashioned fun all the way with stalls, refreshments, entertainment and family games.

The 20-plus stalls will include a range of arts and crafts for sale, Birstall Woodturners, bric-a-brac, tombola, raffles – and the ever-popular cake stall. Kirkwood Hospice, Guide Dogs for the Blind, Hedgehog Rescue, Spen Valley Air Corps and Spen Valley Historical Society will also have stalls at the event.

Singers Lindsey Moore and James Woolford will be serenading visitors throughout the afternoon.

Entry to the garden party and gardens is free. There is also free entry to the museum shop.

Normal admission prices will apply to visitors wishing to tour the historic house.

Proceeds from the event will be divided among the Friends group, Red House Museum and the Moravian Church.
