Mayors charity receives boost from charity boat race

The Mayors Marauders took to the water in a dragon boat on Saturday 11 July 2015 to raise money for Diabetes UK.
The Mayor Cllr Paul Kane and his team received sponsorship of £1450 from local businesses and individuals, and Barclays have agreed to match the amount to £1000 making a total of £2450 for the charity.
The businesses who sponsored the rowers were PSG who paid the entry fee and provided £500 in sponsorship. Howard Cook developments who gave £500 and 117 design who donated £250.
The event took place at Pugney’s Country Park in Wakefield and everyone had a fabulous time – the team crossed the course 3 times.
Cllr Paul Kane, Mayor of Kirklees said:
“It was a fantastic day for all and I am delighted that we were able to raise this money for Diabetes UK, and would like to thank all our sponsors for making it possible.”
