Kirklees Summer Flower, Vegetable and Handicraft Show 2015
Everyone is invited to our Summer Flower, Vegetable and Handicraft Show. This year’s Flower Show is being held at Greenhead Park, Huddersfield on Saturday 8 August 2015 it will be open to the public from mid-day until 5 pm.
The show includes the Huddersfield and District Fuchsia and Geranium Society Open Show, the Yorkshire Gladiolus Society Early Show and the Huddersfield Allotments and Gardens Federation Show. There are also open classes for vegetables, flowers, domestic (baking, preserves, beer and wine), floral art and a handicrafts section. Admission is free
The very popular Huddersfield Miniatures Club will also be exhibiting a large range of miniature houses and street scenes. Colne Valley Museum will also have a stall with exhibits and information about the museum which is housed in four weaver’s cottages in Golcar.
The ever popular children’s section – Kirklees’ got Talent, which gives youngsters up to 13 years the chance to be creative, has a number of exciting categories. Children and young people can display fresh flowers in a pot, bake buns, make a vegetable creation, create a miniature garden, exhibit home grown vegetables or a painted picture of their favourite animal.
There will also be additional craft stalls and free activities including seed sowing, potting on, simple cooking lessons, circus skills and a small treasure hunt digging area. The Friends of Greenhead Park will be selling tea, coffee and a selection of cakes.
Anyone who is new to exhibiting but would like to have a go, is encouraged to contact the parks team, who can offer help and advice before the show. Alternatively exhibitors can come along before 10am on the Saturday and they will be shown what to do.
