Head to Huddersfield this weekend
Get your wallets (and stomachs) at the ready, this weekend when food and craft stalls take over Huddersfield town centre.
First up it’s the 2015 Huddersfield Food and Drink Festival, starting on Thursday 6 August and running until Sunday 9 August. It’s the biggest free food and drink festival for miles around and, as well as over 70 stalls in St George’s Square, there will be a new Food Avenue on Northumberland Street. Lively cookery demos and workshops for kids all help to make this a great family event, and don’t forget to check out the live music there on Friday and Saturday evenings.
And, as if that wasn’t enough, it’s also the final weekend of our summer street markets – bringing together the growing Alternative Market on Saturday 8 August and ever popular Upmarket Sunday the day after. If you’ve never been, the Alternative Market is where creative (and local) under 30’s get together to sell their products, from handmade homewares to food gifts. Expect a similar vibe at Upmarket Sunday, just with slightly more established businesses. Both events will be on Byram Street; Alternative Market 11-5pm, Upmarket Sunday is 10-4pm.
So, call up your friends and family and make sure you head into Huddersfield at some point between Thursday and Sunday to enjoy the festivities.
