Have your kids started the Summer Reading Challenge yet?

Encourage them to love books for life

Encourage them to love books for life

The Summer Reading Challenge is a great way to get your kids started with a lifelong love of books.  This year’s theme is Record Breakers and it looks like being a record breaking year for our libraries – with 100s of children already signed up.

To take part in the challenge, your kids need to read six books over the school holidays. They will be rewarded with stickers for every book they read, and when they have read all six they receive a medal and certificate. It’s perfect for kids aged between 4 and 12 – and it’s absolutely free.  Sign up at your local library.

There are also lots of free events in libraries to keep your kids busy this summer, including some Alice in Wonderland themed parties and picnics and family craft sessions. Check out our website for more information about what’s on. There’s even a national summer reading challenge website where kids can find a book to read and have a go at book related games.
