Outdoor theatre performance
It’s showtime! – Following the success of their previous outdoor theatre performance in the Memorial Heritage Garden at Tolson Museum in Huddersfield, Mikron Theatre are returning on Saturday, 26 September 2015, with their production ‘Raising Agents’ which celebrates 100 years of the Women’s Institute.
What’s it about?
‘Raising Agents’ tells the story of down-at-heel Bunnington WI, where dwindling membership means they can barely afford the hall, let alone a decent speaker. So when a PR guru becomes a member, the women are glad of new blood – initially.
When she rebrands them the Bunnington Bunnies the milk of WI kindness begins to sour and a battle ensues for the very soul of Bunnington, and perhaps the WI itself!
Set on the threshold of one century into the next, this tale of hobbyists and lobbyists asks how much we should keep of our past or how much of it we should let go. But, above all else, like the WI itself, ‘Raising Agents’ is a story of friendship.
The performance starts at 1pm and will comprise two halves of 45min with an interval.
What the reviewers say
Reviews have described the play as ‘gut-bustingly funny’ and used superlatives such as ‘hilarious’, ‘heartwarming’ and ‘engaging’.
Making it even more of a treat not to be missed, this performance organised by the Friends of Tolson is free.
