This is a major achievement for Kirklees Council. Being recognised for our planning and emergency response shows how seriously we take protecting local people against both predicted and unpredicted emergencies. I would like to congratulate the emergency planning team, for their continuous hard work with the local community, including schools and colleges, our health partners and emergency services – who we all rely on in the event of the unforeseen taking place and being prepared for what we hope, will never happen.”

Other categories awarded to organisations were; Most Innovative Product of the Year, Emergency Planning Initiative of the Year, and Voluntary Sector Award. An awards ceremony took place on 29 September 2015.
