Asset transfer of Mirfield Community Centre called in by scrutiny committee – 18 November 2015
A special meeting will be held by the scrutiny committee to review the decision taken by our cabinet on the 20 October 2015 on the Asset Transfer of Mirfield Community Centre.
Our councillors can ‘call-in’ a decision for review if they think that the decision has been made without considering all the information or goes against the council’s constitution.
The reasons our councillors have given for requesting a call in are set out in a call in notice, a copy of this document can be found on our website.
What’s a ‘call in’?
When a decision is ‘called in’ it means that no action can be taken to implement the decision until it has been fully considered by the Overview and Scrutiny Management Committee.
The overview and scrutiny committee meeting will take place at 10am on Wednesday 18 November 2015 at Huddersfield Town Hall.
The committee does not have the power to overturn the decision. However, having considered the evidence presented at the hearing, the Committee can recommend that the Cabinet consider amending the decision.
The meeting is expected to last until mid-afternoon. During the morning session the committee will be hearing evidence from councillors concerned about the decision and also the cabinet members on the reasons behind the decision.
