Cllr Jean Calvert, our cabinet member for community development, said

This is an great opportunity to try new, fun activities whilst raising money for disadvantaged children and young people right here in the UK.

Almondbury Sports Centre is a local hidden gem for those wanting to try gym or fitness classes in a friendly and welcoming environment. Most of us start thinking about our health and fitness in January, so a membership could make a valued Christmas stocking filler for yourself or a loved one.

The Sports Centre on Fernside Avenue is located within Almondbury Community School grounds at the heart of the local community. The centre provides an excellent, wide range of sports facilities including a fully equipped gym, squash courts and various fitness classes, all for the affordable membership price of just £10 per month for adults.

BBC Children in Need works throughout the year to ensure that every child in the UK has a safe, happy and secure childhood, and the chance to reach their full potential. It relies on the energy and commitment of thousands of fundraisers and supporters across the UK, who donate their time and money to put on events supporting the Appeal. Whether through cake sales, dress ups or quizzes, every penny of the money raised goes towards supporting projects across the UK.
