Is there a better way to get in the Xmas Spirit than listening to some good old fashioned carols?  It’s certainly up there as a highlight of the festive season.  Kirklees concert season are offering not one but four opportunities to listen to and sing along with some well known songs.

University of Huddersfield Brass Band Christmas Concert
7 December, 1pm, Huddersfield Town Hall

The annual appearance of the University of Huddersfield Brass Band is a Christmas highlight for many Kirklees concert-goers. Here they are again under their charismatic conductor Phillip McCann in a new programme for Christmas, including a carol sing-a-long.

For many of the Dewsbury audience Christmas starts when they come to hear the wonderful University of Huddersfield Brass Band. Here they are again in concert, directed by the charismatic Phillip McCann, with lots of new pieces to welcome in the Festive Season, including a carol sing-a-long.

1pm, Huddersfield Town Hall

For over 35 years Nigel Ogden has been the presenter of BBC Radio 2’s popular programme The Organist Entertains. He has appeared many times at Huddersfield Town Hall and finds colours in the Father Willis organ which are rarely heard. In a programme looking towards to Christmas you can be sure of some brilliant Ogden arrangements of well-known songs.

21 December, 1pm, Huddersfield Town Hall

Many of the audience say their Christmas really begins with this lunchtime concert. Gordon Stewart is this year joined by the 70 voices of the Huddersfield Boys and Girls Choirs and the brilliant young percussionist Adam Finchett. The programme will be a mix of Christmas music old and new, with organ music by Bach, Daquin and Cockroft and carols for audience, choir and organ.
