Benefit and employment advice launched online

We’ve launched a new website to helping our residents move off benefits and into the workplace.
People who get all the benefits they are entitled to are more likely to find employment, so we have been working with the Kirklees Citizens Advice and Law Centre, and Looking Local to create our new website www.betteroffkirklees.org.uk
If you need benefits and employment advice you can use the site to find out which benefits you’re entitled to and the guidance you need to apply online, or even make an appeal against a benefit decision.
There is also advice and tips on creating CV’s and preparing for interviews. You can also use the site to search and apply for a range of local and regional jobs and to access Universal Jobmatch.
Cllr Graham Turner, Cabinet Member for Resources said:
“We remain totally committed to providing a personalised advice service to ensure that residents claim what they are entitled to and are work-ready where possible.
BetterOff Kirklees allows us to do this, by making the most of our reducing resources whilst freeing up our benefit advisers to deal with the more complex cases we receive.
Crucially, we’re able to help more people into the workplace which not only benefits local families but will also contribute towards creating more independent communities and a stronger local economy.”
betteroffkirklees is available on pcs, smartphones and mobile devices.
