Celebrate International Women’s Day with cake & conversation

International Women's Day

International Women's Day

We are holding an International Women’s Day event to celebrate the diverse roles of women in our changing communities at Dewsbury Town Hall on Friday 29 January 2016.  1:30pm – 6:30pm

You will be able to enjoy taking part in our drop-in session of crafts and activities as part of a programme of International Women’s Day events which will finish at the end of March.

Celebrating women’s achievements

The famous date is a global day recognising the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. It has been observed since the early 1900’s – a time of great expansion and turbulence in the industrialized world that saw booming population growth and the rise of radical ideologies.

International Women’s Day is all about celebration, reflection, encouragement and action.  You will have chance to join in with a number of different activities from brooch making to workshops like Message Scent in which you will be able to mix intensely personal perfumes using memorable fragrances.

The conversation sessions will allow women to explore ideas about what it means to be British in today’s diverse society.  As part of this process you will be encouraged to think about the inspirational women who have influenced your life and to contribute to the Inspirational Women exhibition which will be on show on the day.

Refreshments are available which includes cake and can be obtained throughout the afternoon. Our activities are open to everyone and are free of charge with children welcome.
