Alternative Markets are here to stay!
Our extremely popular Alternative Markets are becoming a regular weekend feature in Huddersfield.
Following the success of last year’s Alternative Markets we are now launching a regular monthly event in Huddersfield for young entrepreneurs. The Alternative Market which last month won a national award is a fantastic opportunity for young local people aged 13 to 29 to showcase their creative products and talents.
Starting on Sunday 13 March along New Street, near Primark, the Alternative Youth Market will be taking place on the second Sunday of each month from 11am to 4pm.
Each month young stallholders aged from 13 to 29 will open for business, selling a wide range of things they have made, upcycled or bought, including handmade fashions, photography, arts and crafts, jewellery, home baking, gifts and toys.
Alternative Markets needs you!
Our Alternative Market team are looking for designers, makers, bakers, artists, photographers, up-cyclers or anyone else who is creative.
Our team also wants to hear from any young singers, rappers, dancers, performers or comedians that would like to take part.
This new event will complement our monthly Upmarket Sunday Market which takes places on the same day each month at the Open Market at Brook Street from 10am-3pm.
Cllr Peter McBride, our cabinet member for regeneration said:
The Alternative Market is a wonderful opportunity for our young people to bring their products to market and to showcase their talents. We have strong training schemes through the local schools, colleges and University but this is a real life experience of trading and is invaluable to anyone wanting to set-up their own business, even if you’re only 13.”
