Oakwell Hall needs your vote!

Oakwell Hall Country Park is set to benefit from a Tesco Bags of help grant.

The park will use the grant to replace the old dipping platform behind the barn. The new platform will be bigger and include seats, interpretation panels and new planting.

The work will be done by the park’s volunteers and will start in September after the pond dipping season is over. The new platform will then be available for use by the local community and schools

The park has been shortlisted to receive either £8,000, £10,000 and £12,000. The exact amount that Oakwell receives will be decided on by a public vote.

Three local projects will be promoted in local Tesco stores and shoppers can vote for their favourite with a token given to them at the checkout.

Where you can vote

Anyone wanting to vote can do so until the 6 March 2016 at one of the following stores:

  • Birstall Express
  • Dewsbury Esso Express, Wakefield Road
  • Mirfield Express – Queen Road
  • Dewsbury Express – Leeds Road
  • Tingley Express – Westerton Road
  • Batley Extra – Bradford Road
  • Cleckheaton – Northgate

Tesco has teamed up with Charity Groundwork UK to launch its Bags of Help initiative across England and Wales.

Bags of Help offers community groups and projects in each of Tesco’s 390 regions across the UK a share of revenue generated from the five pence charge levied on single-use carrier bags.
