Dewsbury craft group get creative

Craft Group

The craft group at Greenwood Centre Library received £500 from the ‘Do It fund’ which is administered by Creative Scene.

Craft group

They used the money to pay for 6 sessions with textile artist Mary Lane, Mary taught them about designing and making a rag rug and helped them to take photos of things that could inspire the design. Together they have created a stunning rug which is inspired by the buildings and environment in Ravensthorpe.

The group, which is run by volunteers Barbara Hirst and Linda Tetley, meets every Monday during term time at 10.30am at the Greenwood Centre in Ravensthorpe.

Rag rugs are made from materials such as old clothes and bedding and are a great way to do some creative recycling.

The rug will be on display in the Greenwood Centre Library very soon.

Just a long shot. I am looking for Barbara Hirst who originally came from Hadfield and lived on Kiln Lane. Known to be inTodmorden now. Could you mail me if this is the lady.

    • Hi Kathryn

I’ve asked and she is not the lady you are looking for. I wish you good luck with your search.

      Thanks
