Work has already started on clearing the worst of the mud that has built up between the traffic signals, and we’ve been working with the quarries on this route to make sure that there is less mud and rubbish on the road in future.

On Monday 18 April work will start on laying a an additional high friction road surface at the points where it is most needed.

We’ll also be putting up more signs, double white lines, road studs and chevron boards.

Road closures on Liley Lane and Bellstring Road

While we carry out the work, there will be road closures on Liley Lane and Bellstring Road during the day (from 9:30am to 8pm) for around two weeks. If it is very wet over that period, it could take longer.

Different parts of the road will be closed as work progresses and there will be no through route from Grange Moor to Colne Bridge whilst the work is taking place.

We know that closing the road is going to be annoying for some drivers, but please follow the diversion signs, as they are in place to ensure the safety of all road users and staff on site while the work takes place.
