Labour remain the biggest party on Kirklees Council following today’s election results.canva tile - election results 2016

They maintained their 34 seats – one short of an overall majority, losing one seat in Liversedge and Gomersal, but gaining Colne Valley.

The Conservatives increased their share of the council chamber from 18 to 20 seats, but the Liberal Democrats had a net loss of one so fall to 9. The Greens lost one seat, so will have three councillors.

Independent councillor Charles Greaves held his seat in Holme Valley North.

The overall make up of the council is Labour 34, Conservatives 20, Liberal Democrats 9, Green 3, Independent 3.
