Road closures and parking information for Jo Cox memorial in Huddersfield tonight
Following the tragic death of Batley and Spen MP Jo Cox last week, there is a special memorial service being held in her honour at St Peter’s Church (Huddersfield Parish Church) on Byram Street tonight, 21 June 2016.
The service begins at 6pm and is open to anyone who wishes to pay their respects.
If you’re going to the service or will be in town at this time, here’s some practical information to help you plan your journey:
Current road closures
Kirkgate, Westgate, Venn Street, Oldgate and part of Cross Church Street are currently closed due to ongoing roadworks so please leave extra time for your journey.
There’s very little parking close to the church – we’d recommend you use one of the following car parks – Cambridge Road, Brooke Street, Bath Street or Market Hall. There is less on street parking nearby than usual due to the roadworks mentioned above.
Books of Condolence
A reminder that books of condolence are open in our town halls so local people can pay their own tributes.
If you would like to share a message of sympathy but are unable to get to one of the books of condolence, please email your message to the Mayor’s Office and we will print it out and include it in the book.
