A Victorian Miscellany at Huddersfield Art Gallery

Have you taken a trip up the stairs to Huddersfield Art Gallery lately?
Head to the top floor of the library into Huddersfield Art Gallery and step back in time to the Victorian era to see our fantastic collection of paintings and intriguing objects.
All of the paintings were made during Queen Victoria’s reign and cover popular themes such as landscape, nature, literature, morality and rural life. Dramatically displayed alongside, as if they have escaped from the paintings, is a quirky selection from Kirklees Museums’ collections, including a rather regal looking stag, stuffed birds & nests, beautiful Victorian ladies’ shoes & bags and cute Victorian toys.
The Victorian Miscellany exhibition offers the unique opportunity to enjoy a large collection of paintings that have been brought together from venues across Kirklees.
The exhibition is free and is open until 1 October 2016.
