Explore the world with Kirklees Museums

Looking for summer holiday events in Kirklees? To celebrate the Rio Olympics, Kirklees Museums are inviting youngsters to ‘Explore the World’ with them.

Each museum will concentrate on a different continent with themed crafts and activities during the school holidays – check out what we’ve got going on below:

Bagshaw Museum, Wilton Park, Batley
Tuesdays 2, 9, 16 and 23 August, 12-4pm
Come along and help us explore the continent of Africa, with fun crafts and activities. Suitable for ages 5 to 12 years, the activities cost just £1 per child.

Oakwell Hall, Nova Lane, Birstall
Every Wednesday from 27 July to 24 August, 10am-12pm and 1-3pm.
At Oakwell you’ll find America-themed activities. The activities are free but normal Hall admission charges apply*.

Dewsbury Museum in Crow Nest Park
Thursdays 4, 11, 18 and 25 August, 12-4pm
Europe is the theme of crafts and activities being held in Dewsbury and it’s £1 per child to join in.

Tolson Museum in Ravensknowle Park, Wakefield Road, Huddersfield
Thursdays 4, 11, 18 and 25 August,11am-1pm and 2-4pm
Here you’ll find crafts and activities on the birds, animals and people that live in South America, home to this year’s Olympic Games. Sessions cost £1 per child.

Red House Museum, Oxford Road, Gomersal
And at Red House there there are quiz trails and self-led craft activities in the house each day from Saturday 16 July to Sunday 4 September, 12noon-4pm. Outside there will be giant garden games to play. Entry charges apply to the house* but entry into the garden and shop is free.

*Admission prices for Oakwell Hall and Red House are £2.50 adult, £1 child and £6 family (two adults and up to four children). Annual tickets giving unlimited entry for a year to both sites are £6 adult, £2.50 child, and £14.50 family.
