Summer Show 2016 – flowers, veg and crafts spectacular
It’s that time of year when we are outstanded by onions, delighted by daisies and bowled over by baked goodies and beers. The annual Summer Show of Flower, Vegetable and Handicraft is back on the weekend of the 13 and 14 August.
The show at Greenhead Park will feature the best produce from local gardeners and artisans. They will compete against each other to win a coveted prize, or better still best in show.
Anyone wanting to enter an exhibit in the summer show needs to take them to the marquee on either Friday 12 August from 5pm until 8pm or on Saturday 13 August from 7.30am until 9.30am.
There are also open classes for vegetables, flowers, domestic (baking, preserves, beer and wine), floral art and a handicrafts section. So whether you’re heaving in your heaviest potato, presenting a beautiful buttonhole, laying out a luscious lemon drizzle loaf or want to show your a wizz at woodwork there is something for you. A full list of categories can be found at on the Friends of Greenhead Park webpage.
Under 13’s can also get involved in the action in the Kirklees’ got Talent tent. They can display fresh flowers in a pot, bake buns, make a vegetable creation, create a miniature garden, exhibit home grown vegetables and even share their painted pictures to celebrate the Queens 90th Birthday.
