The following services take place on  Sunday 13 November 2016


The procession assembles at Batley Market Place at 10.15 am for march off at 10.35 to Batley War Memorial Gardens. The service starts at 10.55 am.  After the service the procession will re-form in Cambridge Street and return to Town Hall where refreshments will be served.


People should assemble at 1.45 pm at Carr Street/Market Street corner, Birstall. The march will start at 2pm to the service at St Peter’s Church at 2.20 pm. Wreaths will be laid at war memorial at approximately 3pm.  Following the service the procession will not re-form.

Denby Dale

The service is at at Holy Trinity Church, on Trinity Drive at 9.30 am. A wreath laying ceremony will take place at the War Memorial at 10.50 am.


The procession assembles at Dewsbury Town Hall at 10am, the march to Dewsbury Minster starts at 10.10 am before a service at 10.30 am.  Following the service the procession will re-form and at approx. 11.45 am it will parade to Crow Nest Park for a service and wreath laying at the War Memorial at approx. 12.45 pm.


People are to assemble at Manor Road at 10.15 am for service at the War memorial at Jubilee Square at 11am.  The parade will go past Golcar Royal British Legion Club (salute outside the Rose and Crown), there may be a short stop at the Providence Church for the congregation to join the parade.


People are to meet at 11.45 am around the War Memorial in Green Park, Heckmondwike for service at 12 noon.


A service is to be held at 10.45 am in Holy Trinity Parish Church followed by wreath laying service at War Memorial. The wreath is to be laid in church then taken to War Memorial for ceremony at 12.00 noon.   Refreshments will be provided in Holme Valley Hospital after the service.


The procession assembles at Victoria Lane at 10.15 am for march off at 10.30 am.  The service will take place at 10.50 am at Huddersfield Parish Church. After the service the procession will re-form and the salute will be taken in the Market Place on the return route.  Procession will dismiss in Ramsden Street outside the Town Hall where refreshments will be available.


A service will take place at Parish Church at 10.30 am.  Wreaths will be laid in church and at war memorial following service.


People should assemble at Marsden Royal British Legion at 10.20 am. March off will be at 10.40 am to Cenotaph in Marsden Park for wreath-laying ceremony and two minutes silence at 11 am.  Following the ceremony the parade will re-form and march to St Bartholomew’s Church. The service will be at approximately 11.20 am. After the service it will return via Station Road and Dirker Drive to Royal British Legion HQ for dismissal.


People should assemble in Carlile Street at 10.20 am – march off is to take place at 10.30 am. People will March to St Bartholomews Church where the service will be held at 10.45 am.  Following the service the parade will re-form in Greensend Road. They will process through Market Place for a salute to be taken on the library steps prior to dismissal.  Wreaths will be laid on war memorial in church grounds following service.


People will assemble at 1.30 pm in Lowlands Road for march off at 2.00 pm via Station Road and Huddersfield Road. The service & wreath laying will take place at the War Memorial in Ings Grove Park. Following the service the procession will return to Lowlands Road for dismissal. Tea and Coffee will be served at the Fire Station, refreshments at Mirfield Constitutional Club, St Paul’s Road, and hot food at The Old Colonial, Dunbottle Lane (free of charge).


The service will be in St James’s Parish Church at 9.45 am. It will be followed by a Wreath Laying Service at War Memorial at 11 am.


People should assemble adjacent to the Town Hall at 2.15 pm.  The parade will march off at 2.30 pm to Memorial Park to lay wreaths.  The parade will then march to St John’s Church for service at 3 pm.

Additional Services


On Friday 11 November the will be an Armistice Day Service at Greenhead Park. People should gather at the lower gates at 10.30 am for procession to the War Memorial and a service at 10.50 am.


On Wednesday 9 November assemble at Dewsbury Town Hall at 10.45 am to process to Longcauseway for Dedication of Garden of Remembrance at 11am.  Refreshments will follow in Dewsbury Town Hall.

On Friday 11 November there will be an Armistice Day Service. People should gather on Longcauseway at 10.50 am for a brief service at 11am.


On Friday 11 November the will be a service at the Memorial Park at 11 am.


On Sunday 6 November morning service at Parish Church 10.15/10.30 am


On Friday 11 November at 10.30 am gather for a short service at Ings Grove Park at 10.45 am.


On Sunday 13 November the service at St Mark’s Church at 10.30 am will be followed by wreath-laying at 12 noon at the War Memorial, Longwood Gate, Longwood.

East Bierley & Birkenshaw

On Sunday 13 November, there will be a short dedication of Birkenshaw War Memorial in St. Paul’s Church at 9.30am. After the service the Parade gathers in front of the Community Hall for march off at 10.10 am. It will march through Birkenshaw on Bradford Road to Cenotaph on South View Road, East Bierley.  An Act of Remembrance at the Cenotaph begins at 10.40 am.


On Sunday 13 November at 10am there will be a Service of Remembrance at St Mary’s Parish Church, Honley.  At 10.45 am there will be a Parade to the War Memorial for a Service of Remembrance and the laying of wreaths.  The Parade will then reform and march back to village centre.

New Mill

On Sunday 13 November at 10.30 am  there will be a  at service in New Mill Parish Church.  At 11.30 am there will be a procession (with Holmfirth Air Training Corps) into New Mill for wreath laying at 12 noon in the Remembrance Room of New Mill Club, followed by refreshments.


On Friday 11 November at 10.45 am there will be a wreath laying by local schools at the Cenotaph, Kirkburton.

    I’m not aware of any events other than those listed. Might be worth contacting Holme Valley Parish Council in case they are aware of anything local taking place.

  • Is there anything on Saturday 11th November 2017 in Holmfirth? I plan to come with a fellow piper (ex military) lay a wreath and play a slow aire at Holmfirth war memorial
