Tyre company boss prosecuted
The owner of Heckmondwike tyre company has been prosecuted for health and safety offences which put his employees in danger.
Mr Haroon Khan of Fir Avenue, Ravensthorpe who owns speed tyres, High Street, Heckmondwike was found guilty of three health and safety offences; including failing to ensure the health, welfare and safety of his employees.
He was also found guilty of contravening prohibition notice (issued on 30 March 2016) to stop the use of a part-constructed mezzanine floor. The floor was without edge protection, safe access and no fire safety precautions were in place.
In addition he was prosecuted for allowing employees to work at height without sufficient measures to prevent them from falling.
The offences were recorded as taking place between 1 July 2015 to 23 April 2016.
Mr Khan was ordered to pay our costs of £1160 plus a surcharge of £85 and he was given a 22 week curfew order ( from 8pm to 6am). The curfew order was a direct alternative to custody.
