“Read a book to travel the world from your armchair”

Love is in the air for the home library customers of Kirklees this week, as they’re opening their doors to find surprise Valentine’s gifts as well as their usual choice of books.
Kirklees is one of only five areas taking part in a special promotion as part of the Mills & Boon Romance on the Road campaign and our local readers are loving it so far.

We dropped off some flowers and cards to Jenny after finding out it’s her birthday tomorrow! 🌹#RomanceOnTheRoad @MillsandBoon #HomeLibraries

Up to 40 of our customers will be receiving parcels this week, and enjoying free books, chocolate and Valentine’s cards.
Our home library service team delivers 30,000 books or audio books direct to people who are housebound. People who use the home library service can be visually impaired, disabled, elderly, infirm or temporarily unable to access their local library. It can be a lifeline service for many people.
Yvonne’s husband Colin is 93 and housebound – the books the home service bring are a mental escape for them #RomanceOnTheRoad @MillsandBoon

Our favourite comment so far has been from Mrs Eaves, who told us what reading means to her, as someone who is unable to get out of the house; ” If you can read a book you can travel the world from your armchair.”
