Roberttown takeaway prosecuted

The operator of Jade Garden Takeaway, 202 Huddersfield Road, Roberttown has been found guilty of 12 food hygiene offences.

Mr Lee who operates the business was found guilty on 1 March 2017 at Huddersfield Magistrates court and fined £2782.

Our Environmental Health Officers carried out inspections at the premises on 30 December 2015 and again on 30 March 2016 and on both occasions they found unsatisfactory food hygiene conditions.

The main issues were that the takeaway was not clean, there was a failure to protect food from contamination and rodent droppings were found throughout.

Cllr Naheed Mather, Cabinet Member for Enforcement said:

“Our Environmental Health department carries out hundreds of inspections of food businesses across Kirklees each year and most businesses are of a very high standard.  It is disappointing that a premises has had to be prosecuted for the poor conditions despite all the advice and support that is available.

It is only right that we take action against businesses that fail to meet the necessary standards in order to protect customers,  and demonstrate the importance of high standards of hygiene across the food industry.”
