Create a new Mr or Little Miss in our libraries competition
To celebrate Community History Month this May, our libraries are inviting youngsters to create a new Mr. Men or Little Miss character.
Author of the series, Roger Hargreaves, was born in Cleckheaton on 9 May 1935 and it was his 8 year old son asking ‘What does a tickle look like’ that inspired the first book, Mr Tickle.
The competition is open until the end of May 2017, with Mr Men and Little Miss goodies on offer for the winner in each of three age categories; 0-7 year, 8-12 year old and 13 +. The entry form can be found on the Community History Month website.
Entries will be judged and winners presented with their prizes mid June 2017.
Local history – Adult’s competition
And, if grown ups are feeling a little left out they can test their local history knowledge with a special quiz. The 21 question quiz sheet can be downloaded from the website and needs to be dropped off at a library between now and 31 May 2017. The entry with the most correct answers will win a prize and will be announced mid June 2017 and you can visit any Kirklees library to research the answers.
Both competitions are part of a month long celebration of our local history and lots of free talks, walks and events. Find out more about some of the quirkiest events in our feature, or head straight to the event website to see the full programme.
