Our Cabinet agreed the 2018/19 term dates for Kirklees community and voluntary schools at their meeting last night (27 June 2017), which includes making October half term the same week as most others nearby.

As always, parents are advised to check with individual schools before they book holidays etc as these dates may not necessarily be the same for academies or own admission authority schools.

Autumn Term

Begins: Monday, September 3, 2018 to Friday December 21, 2018.

Half Term: October 29 to November 2.

Christmas break: Monday, December 24 to January 4.

Spring Term

Begins: Monday, January 7, 2019 to Friday, April 12, 2019.

Half Term: February 18 to February 22.

Easter break: April 15 to April 26

Summer Term

Begins: Monday, April 29, 2019 to Monday, July 22, 2019

Half Term: May 27 to May 31 2019.

  • Hi Mrs Needler

These haven’t been set centrally yet, but we will put something on this website as soon as we know what they are.

    Kind regards

Where can i find holiday dates for 2020?

  • Why are your term dates different to the rest of the country? As last comment above my husband teaches in Kirklees and I teach in Lancashire. Totally different holidays for the third year running. No point in my authority aligning with rest of country six years ago when you’ve now decided to do your own thing! No wonder children take time off during term time.

  • Aaagh not the same as Oldham where my daughters go…yet again only one week the same holiday as my children. Think I’ll have to teach in a different authority which is a shame 🙁

  • Hi Liz

You can find individual school term dates on our webpage:

  • Hi admin. Thanks for publishing these dates. Personally I think 14 months (autumn half term) to 2 years (summer) is plenty of notice.

  • Hi Andrew – you’ll be pleased to know that we are looking to review dates much sooner in future so that people get more advanced notice. We’ll share details on this site when we have them. Hope this helps

  • Wouldn’t it be better to agree the term dates earlier? Many people are allocated holidays at work in April for the following year. So announcing them now, many will struggle to get their holidays to fit with the ones you’ve just announced. We all know when Christmas, Easter etc is for the next 5 years or more. Please plan earlier and that allows parents to do the same.

  • Hi Valerie, you can search for the school you are interested in here –
    Thank you

  • Hi Joanne, it’s 2018/19 dates we’re talking about in the article – not this October, so hopefully you’ve got it right if it’s a holiday for this year. Last week was the first time the 2018/19 dates were announced, and yes October half term has moved to be the same as other areas. This is why we do recommend parents don’t book holidays until they have the official announcement of dates as they are subject to change.

  • I have already booked October half term from last year dates so have they now changed

Where are the 2017/2018 dates? Where can I find these please?
