Free guided tours at Castle Hill

Are you interested in history or archaeology? If so why not join the Huddersfield and District Archaeology Society and the Castle Hill Ranger on one of a number of free guided tours of Castle Hill this October. You’ll get a chance to explore the earthworks and areas of previous archaeological excavations.

When are the tours?

The free tours will be running on Tuesday 24 and Wednesday 25 October in the afternoon from 2pm to 4pm.

What will happen on the tours?

You will use maps to locate previous excavation areas and learn about the history of Castle Hill,  from the Mesolithic hunter/gatherer period through to the present day. You’ll also be able to learn how Castle Hill fits into the wider landscape and how it relates to other monuments in the north of England.

What else is going on?

Victoria Tower will also be open every day for the half term holidays from 21 to 29 October from 12pm to 4.30pm.  Admission prices will apply.

How do I take part?

Places on the tours are limited so please contact Julian Brown to book a place on 07870 570914.
