All rough sleepers offered a bed during cold snap

Due to the very cold weather, we are currently providing beds for anyone sleeping rough.
Yesterday we activated what is called our ‘severe weather emergency protocol’ which aims to prevent deaths on the streets as the temperatures drop and stay low.
Looking at the current forecast it’s likely that this will stay in place for at least the whole weekend but it changes daily as the forecast changes.
Anyone wanting to use the service should contact us on ) 01484 414933 out of hours, or 01484 221350 during the day.

If this is possible during this cold weather, why isn’t it available at other times?
I’m glad to see that this is happening but can’t help wondering if it is out of real concern for the people sleeping rough or to prevent the bad press and hassle people dying in the streets of Kirklees would bring? Yes, in these extreme temperatures there is the added danger of freezing to death but it is an awful existence whatever the weather. Also who gets the unenviable task of telling people that the temperature has gone up enough, back out onto the streets you go?
Can I donate a small amount of money or some clothing?
