Local fitness group celebrates 5 years of moving more in Beaumont Park

For the last 5 years the Moving More Often class at Beaumont Park has been supporting people with lower mobility to exercise.

What is the moving more often class?

The Moving More Often class is a fun chair based exercise class which is followed by a cup of tea and time for a chat.

Who are they aimed at?

The sessions are ideal for older people who are less mobile or have memory challenges.

Pat Battye and Heather Bessell started the session, after receiving training from the Sport & Physical Activity Team within Kirklees Council.  Only a handful of people came to that first class in 2013, but numbers have increased to around 20 each week – which shows how successful it’s been.

When are they?

The sessions take place every Monday at 2pm till 3.30pm at the Beaumont Park visitors centre (near the Lodge house).  The sessions cost just £2.50 and that includes refreshments, and all proceeds go back into the park visitor centre.

How can I get involved?

Anyone who is interested in attending the Beaumont Park session can find out more by calling Pat on 07775601819

Anyone interested in running sessions like this in other parts of Kirklees can contact Carly Gonzalez by phone, on 01484 221000 Ext 77776 or email or can visit the website.
