2018/19 Kirklees Concert Season announced
This week we’ve launched the new season brochure for the Kirklees Concert Season, featuring world class music on your doorstep. Whether you’re a regular concert goer or fancy trying a classical concert for the first time, there is plenty to choose from.
Here are some of this season’s highlights – you can see everything in the full brochure
This season, new and familiar faces return to perform alongside the award-winning Orchestra of Opera North. Garry Walker begins the proceedings, as well as leading us in our Christmas Concert at Dewsbury Town Hall later in the year. We’ve also got a world premiere, with former Music Director Richard Farnes conducting Will Todd’s Songs of Love and Battle. And we’ll be welcoming back Dalia Stasevska to see out the season in style with another dynamic finale.
Organ Lunchtime Concerts
Borough Organist Dr. Gordon Stewart provides glorious demonstrations of Huddersfield’s Father Willis Organ with a programme of popular music mixed with lesser-known gems. He’s even slipped in a concert dedicated to audience requests! With visiting Organists added into the mix, and our Brass Band Christmas Concert, the Huddersfield Lunchtime Concert Season is simply unmissable.
Chamber lunchtime concerts
The Chamber Lunchtime Concerts at Dewsbury Town Hall see small ensembles from Opera North take to the stage. Back by popular demand, Jeremy Peaker opens the season with yet more Gilbert & Sullivan classics, World of Percussion returns with Chris Bradley and David Greed makes two visits to Dewsbury this season; one in homage to the Centenary of WWI, the other to celebrate Opera North’s upcoming 40th anniversary.
