Find out what help is available for young people preparing for adulthood

Now in its third year, our event for young people with a disability and/or special educational needs who are preparing for adult life is taking place in November.

Why should I come to the event?

Our event is for those preparing for adult life, their parents and carers, as well as professionals. It’s a chance to speak to professionals from all over Kirklees and find out what help is available for those that might need that little helping hand when entering adult life.

What guests thought last year

We were the first council to run an event like this, and other councils have taken an inspiration from us and now hold their own versions. Over 250 attended last year, here’s what they thought:

“There was loads of relevant information and a lot of organisations I hadn’t heard of before”,

“Great to find all this different information in one place”,

“Very useful info, very pleased I attended”.

Find out about…

  • employment
  • further and higher education
  • independent living and housing
  • day time opportunities and leisure activities
  • support to be as healthy as possible…and much more.
