Another lucky winner with My Kirklees Account
We’ve given out another iPad as part of our campaign to encourage more people to sign up for a My Kirklees Account.
The latest lucky winner Andrew Jenkins from Skelmanthorpe was automatically entered into a free prize draw after signing up for a My Kirklees Account. Andrew collected his prize from Huddersfield Customer Service Centre on Thursday 25 October 2018.
Prize winner Andrew was shocked to be told he’d won a brand new iPad, he said: “I’m a single dad, so winning an iPad is brilliant, it means my 11 year old son Kieran will get a great Christmas present this year. At first I thought it was a scam, but when the council called me to confirm I was really pleased. I use My Kirklees Account to help me keep track of my Council Tax and finances and it’s been very useful.”
Over 82,000 people have registered for an account since its launch nearly a year ago in November 2017. With just one password it’s easy to access council tax, KNH rent and housing benefit accounts; people can also log in to check their bin collection dates, report a missed bin collection, and register their vehicle for a tip permit – and we’re adding new services all the time.

How can giving away iPads help deliver services more cost effectively?
We know that more people sign up for online services or make changes to how they usually do things when they receive an incentive, so we use free prize draw competitions to encourage people to try out new digital services that will help us to deliver services more cost effectively.
For instance, when someone visits one of our customer service centres it costs us around £10 to assist them, but the majority of these visits could be dealt with much more easily, for the customer and the council, and at a lower cost online – for just 9 pence per transaction.
If just 30 people use the My Kirklees Account once, instead of visiting a customer service centre the saving will cover the cost of us buying one iPad.
