World Autism Day – 2 April 2019

There are approximately 700,000 people in the UK with autism spectrum disorder. Many people think they know what autism is, and what it entails, however, it is a lot more complex.

What is World Autism Awareness Day?

World Autism Awareness Day is an internationally recognised day on 2 April every year. Its aim is to encourage everyone to take measures to raise awareness about people with Autism Spectrum Disorder throughout the world. It was designated by the United Nations General Assembly resolution.

Now in its 12th year, the aim of the day is to reiterate our commitment to help and ensure people with autism are provided with the support they need to lead full lives.

This year it focuses on leveraging the use of assistive technologies for persons with autism as a tool in removing the barriers to their full social, economic and political participation in society, and in promoting equality, equity and inclusion.
