Clip n Collect garden waste service blooms

Over 10,000 households have signed up for our new, brown bin garden waste collection service since its February launch.

When is the first bin collection?

The first bin collections will start week commencing 20 May and we have now published collection dates so households can find out when their bins will be emptied by using their My Kirklees Account or online.

Anyone who ordered a bin after 28 April will be able to find their collection dates online later next week.

Will my grey, green and brown bins be collected on the same day?

Not necessarily, but some households may be asked to present two different coloured bins at the kerbside on the same day. We would like to reassure these households that their bins will be emptied by different wagons, possibly at different times of the day, and should not mistake this for a missed collection. Only one type of coloured bin per wagon is collected to prevent cross-contamination of contents.

What happens if my bin hasn’t been emptied?

Only if a bin has not been emptied by 5pm the day after your normal collection day should a missed bin report be made.

Karl Battersby, Strategic Director, Economy and Infrastructure Kirklees Council, said:

“One of our key outcomes is to create a clean and green environment for Kirklees and the enthusiasm with which our residents have taken up this offer shows they care about this too. We’re really pleased so many households have taken advantage of the garden waste service which is cleaner, greener and more convenient for many. This service will help us to recycle more in Kirklees and the recycled product will be used in local growing projects. If you haven’t already signed up for the service, it’s not too late. Use your My Kirklees Account or go online.”

Why haven’t I received my bin?

The huge take up of the service means we are still delivering bins.

Those ordered by 7 April will be delivered by 15 May.

Those ordered between 7 April and 15 May will be delivered by 24 May.

Any bins ordered after 15 May will have a two week wait for delivery.

I signed up for the service but haven’t received my bin, will I still be charged from the date I signed up?

Annual subscription starts from first collection.

Can I still sign up for the brown bin garden waste service?

Households can sign up for the garden service online at a cost of £37.50 for one year’s collection of one bin.

Kirklees Passport holders will receive a 20% discount off this price.

Those signing up will receive a brown bin for fortnightly collections of garden waste between February and November. A collection service for a second bin can be requested at any time for an additional £30.

    Hello,

I tried to renew my brown bin collection today but the system would not allow it. Please advise how to renew so I do not lose the service thank you. M Cross.ey

  • Excellent work, I hope the huge amounts of money spent on advertising this have clawed back some of my tax money. I don’t have a garden, but do have a large amount of waste that I can’t recycle correctly due to an inadequate system. Namely, 1 bin for all recyclable goods. No glass allowed. When will this be sorted out without involving a cost?
