The 9 day WOVEN Festival celebrating the Kirklees textile industry from the past, present and future is taking place all across the district between Saturday 8 June and Sunday 16 June.
What is the WOVEN Festival?
WOVEN, the Festival celebrating the Kirklees textile industry from the past, present and future is taking place all across the district between Saturday 8 June and Sunday 16 June.
What events are happening at the festival?
Some of the events during the 9 day festival include: mill walks, tours and open days; pop up exhibitions, events across theatres, galleries and museums with local artists, music and film makers; markets and craft maker markets as well as events for businesses, families and local schools.
Also including ‘The Big Knit’ where the community will be encouraged to ‘Yarn Bomb’ local landmarks across Kirklees.

What is the purpose of the event?
WOVEN aims to show people that the textiles industry is still very relevant and show that it is about innovation, digital entrepreneurialism and creativity.
WOVEN will help to connect Kirklees’ strong heritage with today’s innovative developments in university research, incorporating the district’s art and crafts scene and creative talent.
WOVEN’s theme is generations of innovators, connecting a strong heritage with today’s innovative developments in industry, university research, a strong arts.
