Sleeping Beauty

Go on a magical adventure with our new pantomime Sleeping Beauty!

From the team who brought you Aladdin and Jack & The Beanstalk, 2019’s family show includes spectacular costumes, hit songs and audience participation. It promises to be Huddersfield’s biggest pantomime yet!

Winter Wonderland 2019

Fun for all the Family at Winter Wonderland.

Wondering where to whisk your family for a fantastic festive treat? You won’t be left wanting when you make your way over to Winter Wonderland at Cathedral House. There’s so much to enjoy for children of all ages, you’ll be spoilt for choice!

Santa and his elves will be waiting to greet you in the magical grotto while Rudolph and his reindeer pals have a rest outside.

Go for an extra big bouncy adventure in the Kid’s Game Zone, have your face painted. A professional photo studio will be on hand to capture that special moment too!

You’ll be able to shop to your heart’s content at the craft stalls, with indulgent treats, cool cosmetics, handmade ornaments, and wooden toys, you’ll find something to satisfy everyone this Christmas.

And just to keep you going, there’ll be a hog-roast, festive burgers and a selection of home-made cakes in the outdoor Winter Wonderland Kitchen together with delicious lunchboxes for the kids.

Christmas Market & Santa’s grotto at Storthes Hall Park

To round off a tinsel-packed week, Storthes Hall Park opens its doors on Saturday December 7 for one of the event highlights of the year – the Christmas Fayre and Santa’s Grotto.

Santa will be arriving with his reindeer at 11.15am, before settling into his grotto for a day of greeting little visitors to tick off his naughty and nice lists. There’s something for the parents too with the Christmas Fayre also in full swing with dozens of stalls and niche attractions offered by local and artisan suppliers.

A Very Victorian Christmas

Bagshaw Museum in Batley turns back time with ‘A Very Victorian Christmas’ on Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 December.

Visitors can experience some of the festive fun that would have filled the Victorian Gothic mansion when it was home to the Sheard family in the late 19th Century.

Children can make Christmas tree decorations and a special card and decorate a tasty treat. There will also be a festive trail around the museum.

The Christmas celebration is from 12noon to 4pm each day. The cost is £2 per child per session; no booking required.

Lindley Junior School Choir in the Greenhead Park Conservatory

Get in the Christmas mood with Lindley Junior School Choir at a free concert of Christmas music and carols in the recently re-opened Greenhead Park Conservatory.

Mince pies and mulled wine will be on sale from 3pm and the concert starts at 3.15pm.

    We have not included any Christmas light events in the ‘what’s going on this weekend’ article due to the vast amount of Christmas light events happening throughout Kirklees. ^EMT

  • This is outrageous. Not a word about the Christmas lights switch-on in Dewsbury. It just proves that Kirklees cares zilch for our town and its people.
