Backing our businesses – Leading the fight in Kirklees
As part of Kirklees Council’s reshaped Cabinet, Councillor Peter McBride will be focussing on supporting local businesses through the coronavirus pandemic.
Cabinet Members at Kirklees Council now each have new priorities which focus on the issues that matter most during the coronavirus pandemic such as protecting lives, businesses and communities across the borough.
Several Cabinet Members will also work towards the council’s long-term strategy for the post-Coronavirus era.
Cllr McBride, whose usual portfolio is Regeneration, will now lead on the immediate support to business and planning the post-pandemic inclusive economy.
Cllr McBride said: “Coronavirus has been the biggest shock to world economy anyone can remember. I will work to make sure Kirklees businesses get access to the financial support and high quality advice they need to get through the crisis.
“We are already supporting businesses to deal with the crisis day to day. But I will also be leading our planning for the long term. We want Kirklees to be a place with low inequality, high quality jobs and an inclusive economy. We need to work with the business community to make that a reality.”
