Working with South Kirklees – leading the fight in Kirklees

Councillor Rob Walker will lead on working with communities and volunteers in South Kirklees as part of the council’s approach to tackle coronavirus.
Cabinet Members at Kirklees Council now each have new priorities which focus on the issues that matter most during the coronavirus pandemic such as protecting lives, businesses and communities across the borough.
Several Cabinet Members will also work towards the council’s long-term strategy for the post-Coronavirus era.
In South Kirklees Cllr Walker will focus on engaging with and supporting the voluntary sector responding to the pandemic and building on these relationships for the future.
Councillor Walker said: “Throughout this crisis, people and groups across Kirklees have been looking out for their neighbours and helping them through these difficult times. Their responses have been as diverse as the communities we serve.
“We want to hold on to the things that have made a real and positive difference and learn lessons that will help us in the future. We are learning about working with people and partners even more effectively and how different places have their own unique responses to problems. It’s this kind of knowledge that can help us work with communities across Kirklees after the crisis is over.”
