An egg-stra special treat for frontline workers and those in need

We are giving away more than 12,000 Easter eggs to those most in need as well as frontline workers helping to keep us all safe.

How are we doing this?

We have teamed up with Nestle to dish out chocolate treats to people across Kirklees.

Starting this week, the chocolate eggs will be given to Food Banks, vulnerable children, hospitals, care homes and families on low incomes.

Some will also be given out as a thank you to frontline workers who are keeping us safe and services running such as those at GPs, doctors, care workers, highways workers, bin crews and more.

Councillor Shabir Pandor, Leader of Kirklees Council, said:

“In testing times like these, small gestures can really make a difference. There are many out there across Kirklees who are struggling financially because of the coronavirus pandemic and treats such as chocolate aren’t really an option.

“It’s also a great opportunity to show our gratitude to those out there working on the frontline every day, whether they’re saving lives or carrying out vital services such as emptying our bins. Thank you for everything you are doing so the rest of us are safe and have what we need.

“Thank you also to Nestle for making this possible by donating so many Easter eggs for our residents.”
