Streetbikes donate 22 bikes to NHS staff

Streetbikes are a local charity that supports a positive change to health and wellbeing through cycling.
Usually, Streetbikes run mixed ability cycling sessions for all at Spenborough track twice a week. They also recycle bikes that are given to them for people in need and provide community rides and maintenance courses across the district.
During the coronavirus pandemic, Streetbikes, with the help of funding from Cycling UK, have been offering loan bikes and donating bikes to NHS staff who need to travel to work in Kirklees.
So far Streetbikes has donated 22 bikes to different NHS staff and they have been receiving fantastic feedback. Here are some quotes below from keyworkers.
Susan infection control nurse Huddersfield Royal Infirmary
“I wasn’t sure if I still had cycled in me but I’m really enjoying it and it’s really de-stressing, what a great organisation”
Karen a paediatric secretary at Huddersfield Royal Infirmary,

I feel at this time more than ever it is important to look after both our mental and physical health and exercise really helps”
Faheem ICT support for GP practices,
“I have a really old bike so I’m going to use this bike to cycle to work and back and use stay healthy”
Streetbikes track days are postponed until further notice, but they are still able to take bike donations.

We think they are doing an amazing job to help our Keyworkers in this challenging time.
