Choose N Move will begin accepting bids from 17 June

Our Choose N Move service, which helps people to bid on council and other social housing properties in Kirklees will restart on Wednesday 17 June.

We paused the service in line with national guidance at the start of the coronavirus pandemic in March.

Following government guidance on how councils and other social housing landlords can start to safely allocate and let properties again, we’re getting ready to re-open the service.

We’re committed to supporting economic and social recovery following the easing of lockdown, and will continue to prioritise keeping people safe and limiting the risk of infection.

We will be following national guidance closely and have been working hard to review our procedures to make sure we can operate in a way that assures the health and safety of both customers and staff.

Anyone who is looking for a home with the council or a housing association can find out more information and register their bids on available properties from the 17 June at  www.choosenmove.org.uk

All bids must be made on the website as the council’s customer service centres remain closed at this time.

Cllr Cathy Scott, Cabinet Member responsible for housing said:

“I am delighted that we are able to re-open this much-needed service, in order to provide affordable, quality housing to those that need it most.  The pandemic has highlighted the importance of having a place to call home and restarting  this service will help bring families together, provide individuals with much-needed security and give space to those that have been sharing but really need a place of their own.”

Hi Kara, you should be able to do this online https://www.choosenmove.org.uk/ ^CP

  • Can someone please tell me how I can re-register?

  • Thank you for your reply . Unfortunately your reply does not help. I feel the council are dragging their feet and not listening when the government said for everyone to use their common sense. On this occasion the council are using the sentence ‘but this will only happen when we are confident’ as a excuse for everything that takes them out of their comfort zone.

  • Hi Jennifer, our continuing priority is ensuring the health, safety and wellbeing of everybody who is involved in the process of moving home, including mutual exchange, is protected and maintained. This covers both our customers and our staff. We continue to follow very closely all Government guidance and requirements around operating during Covid19. We are working hard to ensure that mutual exchange is restarted but this will only happen when we are confident that it is safe to do so. I hope this helps ^CP

  • When will council; house exchange start up again? and tenents allowed to go forward with their council house exchange which were cancelled in March 2020. I have found that the council appear to be avoiding the question. I find this frustrating as i work in a school canteen and we have no problems moving about and staying safe. Everyone in the house i am exchanging with is fit and healthy.
