A message from the Mayor of Kirklees
As we all continue to persevere with the restrictions necessary to bring the Coronavirus pandemic under control, I have been truly proud to see the remarkable community spirit which clearly exists in Kirklees.
We have all seen so many of our family members, friends, neighbours and colleagues come together as one, giving selflessly to support each other as a community.
It is often the case that difficult times bring out the best in people. As Mayor I have met incredible people doing incredible things – never more so than over the past few months.
I want to say a huge thank you to everyone for the part you are playing through these difficult times – for the amazing steadfastness of our key workers, the generous and caring actions of ordinary people to help others, and the positive determination of residents to follow the rules and abide by the restrictions.
Although we have seen our rates of infection drop over the last few weeks in Kirklees, it remains above the national average, and so I am grateful to all residents for observing the new restrictions announced recently. Your commitment will ensure the health of others and will guarantee that the new measures are lifted at the earliest opportunity. We all have a part to play.
On behalf of everyone in Kirklees, a sincere THANK YOU.
