Say ‘Hello’ to the Heritage Open Days

Join us for the National Heritage Festival. Sixteen locations will be opening their doors or offering events as part of Kirklees-wide involvement in the National Heritage Open Days Festival, which this year will run for ten consecutive days, from 11 – 20 September 2020.

What’s happening at the Heritage Open Days

Despite a significant reduction from last year’s record 68 sites and events, this year’s selection still offers a fantastic insight into places not always open to the public.  Venues include John Greenwood, Dewsbury’s oldest shop and now intimate local history museum, High Flatts Quaker Meeting House, Roebuck Memorial Homes, Huddersfield and several Anglican churches. There’s a unique scavenger hunt around Dewsbury’s Crow Nest Park and hidden nature trail at Oakwell Hall Country Park, both celebrating this year’s national theme – Hidden Nature. Plus, for the first time, two virtual tours; Birkby Heritage Trail, Huddersfield and St. Bartholomew’s Church, Marsden, which can be enjoyed from the comfort of your own home.

How do I book?

All venues and events are FREE, although, a small number must be booked.  You can find out more information and book through the links below.

The events will all be run in line with national COVID-19 guidance, with social distancing and the use of face coverings where required.
